We’re thrilled to announce B.M. Franklin – a bespoke hat-making brand rooted in tradition, experience and art – is now open! Located on the corner of Bolling Way NE and Buckhead Ave. between Hermès and Canali (256 Buckhead Ave NE), the pop-up shop is the brand’s only location outside of Manhattan.
The 827-square-foot store is open through winter 2020 and offers custom and ready-to-wear hats that fuse classic silhouettes and modern aesthetics to reflect the personality of the wearer, plus masks, full repair and renovation service, a customization bar with accessories like pins and feathers, uniquely scented hand sanitizers and more. Shoppers also have the opportunity to book the B.M. Franklin Experience where they will learn and assist in the process of making a hat using age-old tools one on one with a classically trained artisan.
Founded in 2014, B.M. Franklin & Co. is dedicated to using quality tools, the finest materials and superb craftsmanship to create each and every unique piece. Founder and Head Designer Brandon Franklin’s journey to hat-making began in 2009 after developing a love for detail and craftsmanship during his time at Ralph Lauren. Seeking to acquire a craft of his own, he was introduced to one of the oldest hat shops in America founded in 1922 in New York City. Brandon spent over five years studying the craft's rich history, developing age-old techniques and working with vintage tools. This is where his passion and appreciation for hat-making was born.
“Our mindset is not to reinvent the wheel or meddle with the craft, but to add individual expression through each piece,” says Franklin. “We pride ourselves on making heirlooms to pass down to the next generation, and we look forward to merging with the roots of Atlanta’s culture and crafting pieces that fit our clients’ unique personality and style.”
